Getting Started Questions

Questions from Rock Hill, SC:

I have a 5th grade TV program run on a shoestring if you know what I mean.  We are wanting to get set up with Visual Communicator.
-No problem at all, as VC makes it affordable for school TV studios on a budget.  Besides the VC3 software (around $100 edu price), the computer, and the camera, you'd want a lapel clip-on mic and greenscreen.  I'm now working with an educational vendor to offer such packages, so stay tuned to my blog and newsletters for more...

I have a High 8 Sony handicam, can I use this with a firewire cable and do live broadcast?   None of my desktops have the firewire connection but we have HP laptops that has a 1394 connection.  We run windows XP.
-Good, Win XP is preferred over Vista for running Visual Communicator.  Any firewire equipped camcorder should work fine.

What would be the basics that I would need besides the software to purchase to get it up and running.
-Again stay tuned in 2009 I will be offering basic getting started packages for VC users, more details in this blog in early 2009.  Take a look at episode 2 also.

I need green screen but will probably just paint the wall green.  Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
My getting started package will include a greenscreen sheet, but I do favor the painted wall idea as I explain in my Volume 1 Training DVD.

Hope that helps!  Please leave comments and questions on this blog and I'd be glad to help!
