Submitted Question:
If you were to buy a new computer for Adobe Visual Communicator use, what brand/model would you recommend and why?
This is a tough one to answer, since there are sooo many options out there. First off, be sure you are familiar with the specs that Adobe lists for VC use, and also see what I recommend HERE.
I have been very happy with a new laptop that I purchased direct from Toshiba in April 2009. It came preloaded with Win XP pro and upgrade discs for Vista if I ever choose to go that route (unlikely!). It also has the required discrete video card solution with s-video output, and I upgraded the amount of RAM and added other extras too. I included a screenshot of my specs HERE if anyone is interested, but keep in mind I wanted all the "bells and whistles" so I paid a bit more than the average user. Even though I usually prefer desktops over laptops for VC use, this case I need to be portable for the workshops I teach across the country. As long as I am running only 1 camera, the laptop route is fine for now.
If you want to learn more about Toshiba laptops that you can customize like I did, see my equipment recommendations page
