Wireless Mics and Mixer?

Submitted Question:

I would like to have a couple more microphones.  So I need to by the
mixer you suggested and the other cable to go from the mixer to the
camera, right?   Then the microphones just plug into the mixer box
somehow?

mixer.jpgThat is correct.  The audio mic mixer I recommend will take up to 4 microphones and they connect either with the 3 pin XLR or 1/4" connectors.

I also wondered.  I already have a wireless mic, that we use now.  Will
it work with the mixer also?  It's an Audio-Technica AEW-T1000 UHF
Transmitter.

Yes, should be fine as long as it has either XLR or 1/4" connectors.  Even 1/8" or RCA connections can be made with a few inexpensive adaptors from Radio Shack.

Do consider though a new option I setup for wireless mics and mixers, it's the Premium Wireless Mics and Mixer Package that contains 4 wireless mics total (3 lavalier and 1 handheld) plus cable and mic flag.  This bundle saves you money when ordering all items together.

We have done 2 videos now with VC3. I was under the impression that I could add previously recorded video clips from files and also have some live clips. This works ok as far as putting it together but the playback always has bad sound quality on the previously recorded clips. The review in VC3 is fine but when we publish and burn to a DVD the sound is bad. We publish in WMV and custom set at 2000 as that is the info we had gotten before. I just read one of your comments where you suggested setting at 800. It's almost time for another video, please respond ASAP. Thanks, Patty

Be sure you are publishing not only the video at 2000 kbps, but ensure the audio quality is at 128kbps,stereo 44khz Constant Bitrate. I'm guessing the audio setting may be too low quality, thus the burned DVD sounds poor?
You might consider skipping the custom publishing profile, and instead choose Larger or Largest when publishing shows from VC3. Choose either WMV or DV-AVI format as that's what we use daily with no issues.
Another idea is the camera setting, be sure your firewire camera is set to mic audio (16-bit) and not 12-bit. USB webcams are bad for audio too, so stick with a firewire camcorder ALWAYS for any VC use.
Hope that helps, let us know here!

I changed the setting to medium computer, captured ALL clips right into Visual Comm. 3 instead of trying to import them and used the 2000kbps for video, audio settings of 128 and 44 and we got an excellent DVD this time!! Thanks for your help, Patty
